A pod of no less than 10 killer whales seems to be trapped by sea ice off the coast of the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan.
Japanese Coast Guard officers say they have been alerted to the group of killer whales by native fishermen on Tuesday morning, public broadcaster NHK reported.
The video shared on-line exhibits the animals combating among the many ice. Native climate officers say the ice could have immobilized the animals within the water after the waves froze on the floating ice sheets, the outlet reported.
