A coroner has warned the general public to take drug assessments after the dying of a younger Auckland man who died from “issues” of LSD use.
Joshua Benjamin, 20, died in November 2021 after having an “unusually extreme response” to the drug, coroner Alison Mills discovered.
Mills stated this might occur with the combination of different psychoactive medicine and whereas it was not present in his system, it was “doable” he had a brand new artificial drug in his system that might not be examined.
The outcomes stated that Benjamin had taken 4 tabs of LSD whereas out along with his mates one evening, and started to wrestle to talk. His mates thought he had a nasty journey and took him dwelling.
He was present in an “agitated state” by his dad and mom and was sweating profusely – an ambulance was referred to as after he had what gave the impression to be a seizure and have become unconscious.
Benjamin was recorded as having a temperature of 41 levels Celsius, a standard physique temperature is about 37 levels Celsius.
He was taken to North Shore Hospital, however died after going into cardiac arrest a second time.
