The officers of the staff of Central Intelligence Unit of Tiruchi Customs seized the cannabis, together with 876 kg of ganja, from the farm situated close to Mimisal coast.

A staff from the Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Tiruchi Customs has seized 100 kilograms of cannabis and 876 kilograms of ganja from a shed situated at a shrimp farm on the coast of Mimisal in Pudukottai district.

The seizure was made on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Officers stated the drug was meant to be smuggled into Sri Lanka.

Appearing on particular data, the CIU staff rushed to the shed which was discovered locked and nobody was discovered within the space. The officers opened the lock within the presence of impartial witnesses and located 48 luggage containing Cannabis and ganja hid within the shed.

The contraband was taken to the close by customs workplace. After testing, the contraband was discovered to be cannabis and ganja. They have been seized beneath the NDPS Act and the Customs Act.

The worth of the confiscated cannabis was put at ₹110 crore, whereas the seized ganja was valued at ₹1.05 crore.
