Since October 7, the USA has vetoed three resolutions calling for the suspension of hostilities in Gaza.

Almost 5 months since Israel started its conflict on Gaza, the United Nations has but to undertake a decision calling for a pause in hostilities.

Three votes have been held within the Safety Council – however the US vetoed all of them.

UN Secretary Basic Antonio Guterres described the veto as a software that paralyzed the council from taking motion on Gaza.

Palestine's ambassador to the UN mentioned that US vetoes have value Palestinians their lives.

The US is one among solely 5 everlasting members who can veto resolutions, and has been accused of abusing its energy.

So is the usage of the veto an impediment to decision-making within the UN Safety Council?

And does it serve the agenda of solely a choose group of nations?
